Shaun Jeffers’ first half goal on his full Brackley Town debut earned the Saints a precious 1-0 away victory on their first visit to Lowestoft Town on Tuesday evening.
The victory, which extends Brackley’s unbeaten run to seven games, sees Jon Brady’s side leapfrog Lowestoft to 15th in the Conference North.
Chris Carruthers’ 36th minute free-kick reached Jeffers on the penalty spot surrounded by a posse of defenders. Turning one way then the other to create space for the shot, the Newport County loan striker fired home with his left foot to get his goals tally off the mark.
Billy Turley made a good save to keep the home side out and Sam Whittall saw his effort go wide as the sides went in at 1-0 at the break.
Brackley started the second half brightly before Lowestoft pressed forward in search of an equaliser as the home side enjoyed plenty of possession.
Turley was outstanding in goal, though, making a number of fine saves to deny the Trawler Boys’ quick forwards, while the defensive back four, led by Ryan Austin, held strong.
Former Brackley favourite Jefferson Louis went off on 70 minutes as Lowestoft rang the changes. Eddie Odhiambo and Sam Whittall collected yellow cards but Saints held out for another fine victory.
