BUCKINGHAM suffered a second defeat as Shaun Morris plundered a late Corinths winner.
Morris’ late goal inflicted a second successive defeat on Buckingham Town as they remain rooted to the bottom of the United Counties League Division One table.
Following an opening 3-0 loss to Raunds Town, Orchard’s side needed to bounce back against Rothwell Corinthians and they appeared to be heading for a deserved draw but for Morris’ late strike.
After a goalless first half, the hosts took the lead in the 49th minutes through Morris before Sam Johnson doubled their lead.
The Robins gallantly fought back and halved the deficit when Dean Bland fired home before he equalised seven minutes later.
With the scores level and time running out, the match appeared to be heading for a draw but Morris popped up to snatch victory.
Meanwhile, there was better news for the Buckingham Town Development XI as they beat Brackley Sports Reserves 3-1 courtesy of goals from Jamie Delvalle, Lee Dawson and Ross Atkins.
The first XI are back in action tomorrow and they will be eager to put their first points on the board against Northampton Spencer at Manor Fields.
