Athletic go top after Winslow win

Buckingham Athletic have gone top of South Midlands Football League Division One after a hard-fought 1-0 win over rivals Winslow United.

Phil Martin’s goal just before half time was enough for victory in a scrappy contest where goalscoring chances were few and far between.

The win for Athletic gives them two wins from two following their 3-0 victory over Chesham United Reserves at the weekend.

Winslow, meanwhile, are sixth in the table after their 2-1 win against Sun Postal Sports.
