Brackley Town chairman Francis Oliver has confirmed the departure of club secretary Pat Ashby following a meeting on Tuesday evening.
Ashby had been secretary with Saints for 36 years and a Facebook campaign has already attracted 400 followers asking for his reinstatement.
But Oliver confirmed his exit in a statement released on the club’s website, which said: “In consultation with the club secretary the club has advertised for an assistant because the role of secretary in a club at Conference level is very large.
“Regrettably this matter has led to Pat Ashby and the club parting company over the weekend. However, the door was left open to find a way forward within the club and it still remains so.”
Oliver added that the club would be issuing no further statements about this matter.
