Robins crash to defeat at Wanderers

FOOTBALL: >>Buckingham Town sunk deeper into trouble with a 4-0 home loss to Burton Park Wanderers last weekend.

Now 10 points adrift at the foot of the UCL Division One, the Robins will hope for an improved display at fellow strugglers Northampton ON Chenecks this Saturday, kick-off 3pm.

Against Burton, Buckingham suffered their seventh defeat in a row as the visitors scored after 14 minutes through Leigh Chapman. Wayne Brown hit a second two minutes before the break.

A Jack Wisniewski brace after 69 and 88 minutes sealed the win for Burton.

Former skipper Chris Robson returned to the Robins as a substitute and Victor Gonzales came on for Joel McCormick.

Buckingham: Bell, Cross, (Whitehead), Brown, Simons, Matthews, Carrillo (Robson), Farmer, Cunniff, McCormick (Gonzales), Stimpson, King.

>>Buckingham Town U16s drew 0-0 with Hednesford Town.

In a game badly affected by strong winds, both defences came out on top in this mid-table clash. Buckingham had the wind in their faces during the first half and the defence coped with everything asked of them.

In the second half Buckingham camped in the opposition’s half but they lacked the quality to open up Hednesford’s defence and a stalemate was a fair result.

Buckingham: Fisher, Duncan, Heath(captain), Isaac, Smith, Churcher, Caldecourt, Staley, Barnby, Kofi, Bowers, Fowkes and Hardy
