Brackley Town have confirmed their first signings of the summer as manager Jon Brady looks to rebuild his squad ahead of the upcoming Conference North season.
Saints have re-signed defender Tom Sharpe, popular midfielder Eddie Odhiambo and striker Gary Mulligan while youngster Greg Kaziboni has returned to the club after spending the majority of last season at Rugby Town.
Cambridge United’s 21-year-old midfielder Sam Ives has joined Backley along with Harrogate Town defender Dwayne Samuels.
At last week’s Q&A meeting with supporters, Brady said: “The club is determined to live within its means. In a week when the financial travails at Hereford United and Salisbury among others have been in the headlines, this club will be run responsibly.
“At the same time, a number of our closest competitors are offering some of our players contracts that are out of our reach. Both in terms of salary and length of contract we cannot match what is on offer, so some players who I might have wished to retain have moved on.
“Our strategy is to recruit more local, young, hungry players and to build a team to compete at this level.”
Now entering his sixth season at the helm, Brady confirmed his commitment to the club, adding: “This is the greatest challenge I’ve faced in my football career and I am ready for it.”
Brackley begin their pre-season campaign with a friendly at Daventry Town on Tuesday, July 8, at 7.30pm.
