BUCKINGHAM Town’s preparations for the new season have taken some giant leaps forward after a host of new players signed new deals at the club.
With pre-season under way, recently-appointed Buckingham Town manager Steve Orchard has managed to retain the services of his key players for the upcoming season.
Last season’s Player of the Year Ben Shepherd and the Player’s Player winner, Graham Sands, are staying with the club, as is Supporter’s Player Pat Diamond.
Joel McCormick has also signed a new deal while midfielder Ieuan Riley will remain at the club.
Other players to staying include Darryl Phillips, club captain Chris Robson, Craig Ross and goalkeeper Matt Bines.
In total, 22 players have signed on for the new season.
Meanwhile, the club have also announced that Larry Woodward has been appointed as Town’s new development squad manager.
Woodward has an array of experience having held positions with clubs such as Brackley Town, Ardley United and Easington FC.
His management team also includes assistant manager David Mowatt and Lee Dawson, who will be player/coach and in charge of fitness.
So far, Town’s pre-season campaign has started in impressive fashion having won three of their first four friendlies.
Goals from McCormick and Riley bagged Town a win in their opening friendly against Old Bradwell United before the club racked up two wins over Deanshanger.
McCormick, in particular, has impressed in pre-season after scoring four goals.
In their latest friendly, Buckingham drew 1-1 with Syresham following a goal from Robson.
Next up, Town entertain AFC Kempston at Manor Fields at 11.30am.
The club’s increased optimism means they are now moving from strength to strength for the 2012/2013 season and are looking to welcome new faces to train and join the club, for further details check the website www.bt-fc.co.uk.
