Ryan Brooks’ seventh league hat-trick of the season kept Ardley United top of the Hellenic Premier Division in a 6-0 mauling of Brimscombe & Thrupp on Tuesday evening.
Ardley went ahead after just six minutes when Brooks was played through by Stuart Bridges and outpaced the home defence before squeezing a shot past Adam Thomas.
Three minutes later Troy Bryan bundled the ball over the line for a second, quickly followed by a third as Brooks doubled his tally to give Ardley a 3-0 half-time lead.
Although the hosts enjoyed a spell of pressure after half-time, they were unable to break down the Ardley defence and the visitors soon added a fourth through an own goal, before Joe Eyre scored a fifth and Brooks completed his hat-trick, taking his tally for the season to 36.
That win, combined with Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Highworth Town, keeps Ardley top of the table but only by a point from Wantage Town, who have two games in hand.
United are next in action on Tuesday when they travel to Newbury.
