The Silverstone-based Sahara Force India F1 team are hoping to maintain their impressive season as the 2014 World Championship prepares to roar back into action next week.
Force India are currently fifth in the Constructors’ Championship and they are hopeful of maintaining or even improving that position as the season enters its second half.
Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez have driven strongly this season in their Mercedes-powered VJM07 cars, with Perez scoring the team’s best result of the season with a third-place finish in Bahrain.
Hulkenberg is currently seventh in the Drivers’ standings having scored points in every round bar one, while Perez is four places back in 11th.
Their combined scores put the team fifth in the Constructors’ Championship on 98 points, currently just one point ahead of McLaren-Mercedes.
Hulkenberg said: “The season’s been going pretty well for the team and with eight races remaining, we have to maintain our focus and keep pushing.
“The next race is at Spa-Francorchamps and that is one race every driver loves. The track is the best in Formula 1 and over time Force India have had a good history here.
“We know our Mercedes engine is strong and Spa is a power circuit. We have the potential to score a great result.
Perez is also looking forward to starting again after the holiday period. The Mexican racer said: “It has been good to spend some time away but now the season is set to start again and there is no better place for that to happen than at Spa.
“The track is amazing and I think the whole Force India team are looking for a good result in Belgium. I can’t wait.”
