The Silverstone-based Sahara Force India team start their 2014 race association with Hilmer Motorsport in Bahrain this weekend, when Facu Regalia and Daniel Abt represent the team in the opening GP2 Series events of the season.
Hilmer Motorsport’s cars will race in the colours of the Force India squad, and under the direction of chief engineer, Sean Thompson, the team are hopeful of a strong showing in the world’s leading single-seater series outside of F1.
Highly-rated Argentinian, Facu Regalia, runner-up in the 2013 GP3 Series, will lead the Force India and Hilmer Motorsport attack this year.
He said: “I’m really hopeful that we will have a great season in 2014. Testing has gone well so far and I am looking forward to starting the season in Bahrain. We have a long season ahead with 11 race weekends and I hope I will be challenging for championship glory at the end of the season.”
Abt, the team’s second driver, added: “I think it will be very important to score good results in the opening races this weekend as after these races we will not compete again until May.”
Winner of the Walter Hayes Trophy in 2008, Conor Daly, will also race in the GP2 event in Bahrain this weekend. Daly has been seen in GP3 races for the last couple of seasons as well as racing in the 2013 Indianapolis 500.
He will drive for the Venezuela GP Lazarus team alongside Frenchman, Nathanael Berthon.
