MOTORsport: The Silverstone-based Sahara Force India F1 team showed off their 2012 VJM05 F1 car to an invited audience at Silverstone, writes James Beckett.

Force India hope the car will propel their race drivers, Paul di Resta and Nico Hulkenberg, to podium finishes during this year’s FIA F1 World Championship season, which kicks off next month.

The VJM05 car features a stepped-nose as part of its design. New regulations introduced for this season by the FIA have resulted in many of the F1 teams this season introducing this style to their cars.

Di Resta and Hulkenberg were joined at the launch by Force India’s new test and reserve driver, Jules Bianchi.

The trio posed for photographers alongside the new car that this week has been undertaking pre-season tests at the Jerez circuit in Spain along with other F1 teams.

“We are really looking forward to the start of the 2012 season and hope it will be very successful for us,” said team owner, Dr Vijay Mallya. He added: “We believe we have assembled a really good car and driver package for the new season.”
