Gawcott’s Dan Fox will miss this weekend’s Bert Ray Memorial Trophy race at Brands Hatch, writes James Beckett.
A regular racer in the Champion of Brands, Fox had been expected to line-up in the prestigious race on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit on Sunday but logistical problems surrounding the event force him to give the meeting a miss.
The Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit is one of Britain’s most popular tracks and this Sunday’s race is the ‘jewel in the crown’ race in the Brands Hatch-based Formula Ford series season.
Forming part of the British F3-GT Championship meeting, the Champion of Brands is having what is likely to be one of its final races around the iconic circuit.
From 2013 potential changes to the series will prevent Formula Ford racing around the track made famous by drivers such as Nigel Mansell, Ayrton Senna and Jackie Stewart.
Kevan McLurg, who regularly races with involvement from Buckingham’s Team Fox Racing, has also chosen not to race this weekend.
However, three-time Walter Hayes Trophy winner, Joey Foster, and 2011 Walter Hayes Trophy winner, Adrian Campfield, are on the entry list. Irish racers Patrick McKenna and Keith Dempsey will also take part.
Brackley’s T-Sport will field two cars in the race this weekend in rounds of the Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series.
Fresh from point-scoring finishes in races at Rockingham two weeks ago, Nick McBride and Spike Goddard will drive Dallara cars for the local squad.
