RYAN Freshwater struck a scintillating 132 as Buckingham’s Sunday XI beat Emberton by six wickets.

Having elected to bat, Emberton made a steady start with both openers making it to 30.

Wickets began to fall steadily but P Wijesinghe hit 74 to frustrate Buckingham, although Colin Piggott took 5-27 to restrict Emberton to 224-9.

Ben Cater also bowled well to take three wickets while 14-year-old Alistair Martin impressed behind the stumps.

Clark (22) and Freshwater gave Town a steady start before the latter took charge with some lusty hitting against a weakened Emberton bowling attack.

After being dropped on 25, Freshwater hit 25 boundaries in a fine 132.

Anant Peshavaria also looked in good form with 38 not out to help Town coast home.

This Sunday, Buckingham travel to Stoke Hammond.
