Gawcott U11s too strong for Brickhill side

YOUTH FOOTBALL: Preston Gawcott U11 Tigers produced their best performance of the season to beat Brickhill Rangers 4-0 at home.

James Brady hit the first with a fine solo goal and then netted again with a superb shot.

Then after good play between Charles Brody and Edward Penfold, Tom Davis slotted home the third just before half time.

Brickhill fought back after the break and only goal line clearances from Albert Johnson and Sam Parsons coupled with two great saves from Alex Jump kept them at bay.

Man of the match Matthew Stephenson inspired his team with his impressive display and the Tigers pressed again with Henry Butler hitting the crossbar.

Theo Grundy hit the post before getting the goal he deserved after a break from defence in the final minute.

The first half was fast paced, end-to-end action with a few thwarted attempts at goal from either side.

Joseph Wilmshurst raced up and down the pitch, intercepting the ball and keeping the game moving. Jordan Gravestock provided thoughtful solid defence for keeper Sam Walker and Joseph Kayll in midfield challenged unreservedly throughout.

In the second half, however, the energy accelerated and the tension built, both teams holding their own with focus and determination right up to the whistle.

It was impossible to single out one man of the match, with the defence as a whole given the award.
