Former Buckingham University student, Marc Gene, thrilled thousands of spectators attending the Ferrari World Finals at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi last week, writes James Beckett.

Gene, Ferrari’s official test and reserve driver, demonstrated a F1 car previously raced by legendary Scuderia driver, Gilles Villeneuve. He then demonstrated a Grand Prix winning Ferrari alongside Kimi Raikkonen, with the duo simulating a number of race starts and pit stops.

Speaking during the event, Gene said: “Ferrari may have had a season of not winning in Grand Prix racing this year, but for our fans around the world, as a team, we can never fail to win. Ferrari is so well known and loved internationally. To be part of an event like this is incredible and I am very happy that Ferrari allow me the chance to drive such amazing cars on a regular basis.

“I really enjoy being part of the Ferrari family and for ten years I have been working with the most famous racing team in the world.”

Gene is expected to continue with his duties for Scuderia Ferrari in 2015, while also racing in selected rounds of the World Endurance Championship including the Le Mans 24-Hour Race.
