Impressive Ardley see off Wootton

FOOTBALL: Ardley maintained their lead at the top of the Hellenic Premier Division on goal difference with a 4-0 home success over Wootton Bassett Town on Tuesday.

Second-placed Kidlington edged Carterton 1-0 at home on the same evening,

while fourth-placed Wantage Town won 5-4 at Reading Town. Slimbridge are third, three points adrift of the leaders, following a 6-0 trouncing of Kidlington last weekend.

Ardley are in the Bluefin Cup away to Chalfont Wasps this Saturday, and with Kidlington playing Wantage in the league, and Slimbridge hosting Thame, it’s going to be an interesting afternoon for the table positions.

>>In Division One West, there was disappointment for Bicester Town last Saturday as they fell 3-1 at leaders Headington Amateurs. Lovegrove opened the scoring for fourth-placed Town, but Amateurs hit back with goals from Zaja, Buckle and Mclaung.

Bicester travel to Trowbridge Town this Saturday.

Basement side Launton Sports were without a game at the weekend. They visit Clanfield this Saturday.
