Buckingham U14s have won the Shires League after beating Overstone Park by 34 runs.
Town batted first and made an excellent start with Albert Oswald (51) striking seven boundaries in a fluent innings during an opening partnership of 95 from 17 overs.
Will Simonds then struck a rapid 29 from only 12 balls with powerful shots all round the ground and a huge six over mid wicket. Alex Jenden (21no) joined captain Albert Johnson (61no) in an unbroken third-wicket partnership of 41 from the final four overs as Town posted a formidable 173-2 from their 25 overs.
Overstone scored 20 runs from the first two overs before Kallan Peshavaria (1-18) dismissed the dangerous Tom Pope, which he followed up by running out Jacob Summers.
The loss of the openers put Town in the ascendency and their bowlers restricted Overstone to just 49 runs from the first 13 overs and despite Toby Clifton (49) and 11-year-old Jamie Sales (53no) putting on exactly 100 for the third-wicket, Buckingham were always in control with Alfie Robey bowling two tight overs at the death to seal victory.
Town captain Albert Johnson was named Man of the Match as he followed up his innings with six economical overs of off spin bowling.
