Bicester AC’s U11 and U13 girls’ teams were in magnificent form in the Division Three Heart of England match held in Dudley, winning both of their respective competitions.

There were some fantastic individual performances, none better than those of Millie Couzens who smashed two long-standing club records. Couzens became the first Bicester U11 female runner to break two minutes for 600m as her winning time of 1.57.6mins broke a club record that had stood since 1998.

She then placed second in the long jump (3.91m), which broke a 20-year club record. Emilia Sims took the B-string for Bicester before Couzens rounded off the day with a win in the 75m in 11.7secs.

There were also some outstanding performances by the U13s, including a double in the 1500m as Amy Gould (5.27.4) and Molly Action (5.47.2) took the A and B string events respectively.

Action added to her success with a throw of 13.80m to win the A-string discus, with Maisie Silvester (13.12m) taking the B-string.

Holly Griffiths-Brown (2.40.6) won the A-string 800m and performed well in the 100m (14.6) and the long jump (4.03m), supported by Rushani Arumugham, who placed second in the B-string 100m (15.1) and long jump.

The Bicester U17 boys narrowly pipped Royal Sutton for second place as Connor and Zac Wilce were successful in the long jump, while Tom Gould claimed second in the 1500m (4.54.3) and won the B-string shot (6.66m).

Elsewhere, Tom Couzens was in fine form for the U13s as he landed a double first in the long jump (4.49m) and high jump (1.40m) as well as second in the discus 15.97m, and Hayden Durrant lept 3.89m to win the B-string long jump.

In the B-string 75m hurdles, Josiah Edwards-Giraud ran 15.8 to take victory, with Jamil Welham running 30.3 in the B-string 200m.

There were further strong performances from Rhiannon Penfold, Olivia Stone, Michael Cadle and Emily Benfield.
