Bicester stuttered in their promotion bid against a plucky Maidenhead side at Cooper School on Saturday as they only managed to salvage a draw in MBBO Division One.
The lowly visitors shocked their hosts within two minutes when a smartly-deflected goal gave Peter Bowen no chance in the Bicester goal.
From then on Bicester dominated proceedings with Man of the Match CJ Birtles controlling the midfield, but clear-cut chances were lacking as Maidenhead kept their slender lead intact until the break.
A fiery team talk from captain Daniel Round did little to change the flow of the game after half-time, but Bicester built-up pressure as the half wore on and snatched a point in the dying seconds when a series of short corners led to Luke Smith poaching a goal on the line following good work from Stu Moore and Jon Rodger.
Bicester take on local rivals Banbury this weekend.
