Bicester ladies first team returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Bracknell at the weekend.
Following their first defeat of the season last week, Bicester were determined to hit back right from the start against Bracknell, deservedly securing a 2-1 half time lead. The first goal came from Hannah Newell before Ella Weston went on a run and crossed into Lilla Venning, who was perfectly positioned to sweep the ball into the goal.
Bicester remained on top in the second half but couldn’t add to their tally and were indebted to Meg Scott, who pulled off an heroic late save to thwart Bracknell. Bicester face Reading this weekend.
The men’s first team, however, were beaten 5-0 by Oxford Hawks IIIs.
A strong Oxford team started well and powered into a 2-0 half time lead despite some high quality saves from Peter Bowen. Leo Graves went close to scoring in a much-improved but ultimately fruitless second half Bicester display as three superb counter-attacking goals put Oxford out of sight.
