Bicester Athletic Club’s sportshall teams travelled to Witney last week where they broke two league records in the fourth and penultimate round of the Oxfordshire Sportshall League.

First up, the U11 boys finished their match in overall third place overall. The speed bounce team of Edward Jolliffe, Morgan Attrill, Aidan Fitton and Finn Graham bounced to second, matched by Sam Rayson and Sean Lock in the standing long jump, with William Roberts and Ethan Connor third in the soft javelin.

Millie Couzens was the star for the U11 girls, who went one better than the boys to finish second. Couzens ran superbly to break the three-laps league record which had stood since 2009. There were also first place finishes for Amelia Cox and Emilia Sims in the soft javelin and Isabella Hopkins, who teamed up with Couzens to win the standing long jump.

JJ Welam broke the U13 boys four-laps league record which had stood since 2008. Welham, Harry Marquick, William Sims and Aaron Wright then claimed first in the obstacle relay, while Sims and Tom Couzens bounced to first in the speed bounce as the team took overall victory.

The U13 girls team was in superb form and fell just one point shy of the maximum score. Holly Griffiths-Brown, Lauren Garside, Rushani Arumugham, Molly Acton, Amy Gould and Holly Hunter all played a part with individual first place finishes.

The U15 teams were also in fine form with Orlaith Lyford helping the girls to third place overall, while winning performances from Lewys Jones, Jake Cherry, Harvey Attrill and Owen Acton inspired the boys to second place.
