Buckingham LHC IIs have clinched promotion to Trysports Premier One with an emphatic 13-0 away win at Amersham & Chalfont on Saturday.
Knowing a victory would guarantee the league title, Ford Player of the Match and Buckingham captain Andrea Freshwater helped her side get off to the perfect start with two goals inside 10 minutes as the visitors displayed some of their best hockey of the season.
Buckingham dominated from start to finish with Jaz Needham, Fi Farley and Andrea Freshwater scoring two goals apiece before Vicky Ross opened her account for the day.
Just before the break, Ella Cusack retired from the game injured, leaving Buckingham with 10 players for the second period, but it failed to halt their dominance as Freshwater grabbed her fifth of the game before Jaz Needham, Vicky Ross and Kirsty Freshwater all scored to pile the misery on Amersham.
Buckingham’s final match of the season will be against Wycombe on April 5, where anything other than a defeat will make it a remarkable three years since Buckingham last tasted defeat in a league match.
