Local school student Max Heaton dominated Buckingham Tennis Club’s Finals Day on Sunday.

The 18-year-old took victory in the men’s singles when he beat Trevor Joyce 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 before teaming up with Joyce to win the men’s doubles 7-6, 6-1 over Anthony Green and Graham Baugh.

Also victorious was Keira Ainsworth in the ladies’ singles as she beat Hilary Baxter 6-1, 6-1, and in a very hard fought battle, Liliana Dickmann-Pena and partner Mary Murphy won the ladies’ doubles against Emily Webb and Hilary Baxter 4-6, 6-2, 6-0.

In the mixed doubles between Keira Ainsworth and partner Graham Coles and Helen Lewis and partner Anthony Green it was tied one set all, when unfortunately Graham had to concede the match due to feeling ill. An exciting day of competition culminated in local councillor Robin Stuchbury presenting the trophies to the winners.
