Bicester Boxing Club’s Andy Prichard claimed a unanimous victory after boxing on a busy show at the luxurious surroundings of the Heatherley Hotel in Gloucester.
Making his fourth appearance for Bicester following three previous victories, Prichard was in top form to beat Northampton’s Kev Portas.
The local boxer used his height advantage well throughout the three rounds as he worked neatly behind his jab while also showing his power in a well-deserved 30-27 unanimous decision on all three judges scorecards.
After the contest, Prichard said: “I knew this was going to be a tough contest but I prepared well and did everything I was asked to by my coaching team. I was keen to pick up a victory here in order to build on my undefeated record. I will be straight back to the gym now to improve on tonight’s performance.”
Bicester Boxing Club’s head coach, Daza Usher, added: “Andy has been training really well in the lead up to this bout. He is always a regular in the gym and the hard work he has put in over the last several months has paid off tonight. I think he can push on from this victory and look to box again in Bedford at the end of April.”
