BUCKINGHAM’s Alyssa Lim is ready to put her new mixed doubles partnership with Marcus Ellis to the test at the England National Badminton Championships.
Despite reaching the semi-final of the women’s doubles last year, Lim’s mixed doubles campaign was one to forget as her and James Lauder made an early exit.
But this year Lim, who attended Royal Latin School, is partnered with Marcus Ellis.
The hopes for the pair are high as they begin their charge towards the Rio 2016 Olympics with a trip to Manchester for this year’s nationals, which begin on February 1, their first real test.
Lim said: “The nationals is one we obviously want to do well in – I think everyone does because it’s such a big event.
“It will be a good starting point to see where we can put ourselves in terms of the national rankings and then we can go on from there and see how well we can do in the world.”
In the women’s doubles, Lim is hoping to go all the way with partner Jess Fletcher after the two impressed in recent years.
She added: “Jessica and I seem to enjoy the nationals having reached the semi-finals twice, but we would obviously like to improve on that.”
