Bicester Ladies IVs played their first ever game at the weekend when they took on Oxford Hawks, going down 3-1.
The youthful side made a nervy start but soon began to settle into the game, although the resolute Hawks defence repelled any Bicester attacks.
Bea Gunn, Shannon Nicole and Jess Thripland pressed well but it was Hawks who went ahead when a rebound fell kindly for an Oxford player and was hammered home.
The hosts then doubled their lead in almost identical fashion, before Bicester goalkeeper Corin Scott produced a string of fine saves to keep her side in the game at half-time.
The introduction of Nicky Willers Cameron and Ashleigh Foote added a little more experience and Bicester looked to have got themselves right back into the contest when captain Rachael tapped home from close range, but Hawks sealed the win with a third goal late on.
This weekend Bicester take on another newly-formed team, Buckingham IVs, at Cooper School.
