BICESTER Millennium Cycling Club (BMCC) have partnered up with Silverstone Circuit to present an Invitational Tour de France Style 9-Up Team time-trial in aid of charity on the spectacular Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit.
The club believe the event may be the largest team time-trial ever held.
This unique event will take place on Friday, August 10, and will be in aid of Silverstone charities as well as Help for Heroes.
Invitees include Formula 1, MotoGP, professional and semi-professional cycling teams, the Armed Forces and British Cycling affiliated clubs.
A total of 36 teams have confirmed their interest with 50 teams expected to take part, which equates to 450 cyclists racing to complete three laps of Silverstone in the fastest possible time.
Teams will be assigned a pit lane garage for pre-race preparation and they will depart at one-minute intervals starting at 7pm.
Racing will be on road bikes only, as specified by British Cycling & UCI regulations.
Spectators are welcome on the night with all proceeds from the event distributed between charities local to Silverstone Circuit and Help for Heroes.
Meanwhile, the club are also hosting taster rides for anyone who is interested in cycling and getting fit.
After meeting at Bicester North Railway Station at 9.30am on the morning of the rides, cyclists will cycle 30 miles at a pace to suit everyone in the group.
