Bicester M3s are second at the halfway point of the season in MBBO Division Seven following a 4-1 win in a rearranged fixture against Wallingford M4s.

Bicester dominated the first 10 minutes but a combination of good goalkeeping and poor finishing kept the game scoreless until Jordan Chester crossed for Will Hartley to put Bicester ahead.

However, despite the home side’s pressure, they were then pegged back when Wallingford converted a penalty corner after goalkeeper Gary Brock had saved the initial shot.

Bicester continued to look the more threatening side but they had to wait until the second half to assume total control with Nick Styles converting three penalty corners to put the result beyond doubt.

The victory takes Bicester up to second ahead of this week’s potential promotion-decider against third-placed Maidenhead.

It was a successful weekend all round for Bicester Hockey Club as all five teams that were in action picked up wins. The L1s beat Phoenix & Ranelagh 3-0, the L2s defeated Abingdon Pilgrims 4-2, the L3s were 2-1 winners over Thame IIIs and the M2s beat Witney IIs 1-0.
