Swans’ swimmers grab haul of medals

SWIMMERS: Swimmers from Buckingham Swans travelled to Watford and Aylesbury Swimming Clubs to take part in the final qualifying meetings for the 2011 county championships and came away with personal bests and a haul of medals.

At the Watford meeting, 12 county times and 18 personal bests were achieved, with Emily Jones and Sinead Vine-Nealon each taking home five medals.

At the Aylesbury event, Swans’ swimmers achieved 21 new or improved county times and 37 personal bests, gaining five medals, with Katie Lee achieving a string of PBs and a regional time in 50m breaststroke.

Over the two weekends, 34 club records were broken, reflecting the continued improvement in performance standards at the club.

Buckingham Swans’ swimmers will be again be well represented at the Oxfordshire and North Bucks County ASA Championships in March at Aqua Vale in Aylesbury, with a total of 37 individual entries and four relays.

On January 29, 20 club swimmers also competed in the Chiltern League first round inter-club competition at Kidlington & Gosford SC, Oxford, finishing second to the host club in an exciting and fun gala, and gaining 19 personal bests during the evening.
