A talented young rugby player from Towcester has been selected for the Midlands U15 Girls rugby squad.

Molly Strudwick-Faragher, 14, began playing rugby a year ago for Old Northamptonians and was selected for the 30-strong Midlands squad despite picking up an injury at the trials.

She said: “I spent ages looking for a team before my granddad found me somewhere to play and I’ve loved it ever since I started.”

Having made it into the top 120 U15 Girls currently playing rugby in the UK, Molly – who plays as outside centre – now has aims to compete at U18 level when she turns 15 before going onto the final step which is the England U20s Women.

She added:“There’s a Talent Development Group where six people from the Midlands get selected. I turn 15 in June so I’ll be looking to do that then.

“There’s also the trials for the England U20s women which I’m aiming for.”
