Tows U17s into national semis after cup triumph

Towcestrians U17s have clinched the Midland Shield Cup after holding off a late Hinckley fightback to win the final 17-12 and qualify for the national semi-finals.

Towcester made a terrific start to the final as they held their own against a big Hinckley pack before opening the scoring when Alex Bucknell beat three players to give Towcester a well deserved lead.

James Snook added the conversion before further Towcester pressure culminated in a try for Paddy Falvey.

Hinckley hit back with a try before half-time, but Tows increased their lead through Snook’s try and though their opponents got one back, Towcester held on to be crowned Midlands champions and set up a national semi-final against, Blaydon, in three weeks.
