Buckingham Ladies first team picked up from where they left off before Christmas in their first outdoor game of the year as they eased to a 4-0 win against Bristol Firebrands to make it 11 wins from 11 in the Investec Women’s Conference West league.
Following a highly successful Christmas indoor season, which saw Buckingham win the south qualifying tournament before claiming the National League North Division Two title, Buckingham got straight back into their stride outdoors as they began with a high intensity.
But they were up against a resolute defence and a goalkeeper in inspired form as Bristol kept it goalless until half time.
It was more of the same in the second half but this time Buckingham found a way through the Bristol defence with Jo Ellis scoring twice in quick succession following good play from Jess Bloom and Zoe Shipperley.
Kitty Higgins extended the lead further midway through the half and captain Katrina Nicholson (pictured) sealed the win late on to round off a fine performance.
Buckingham, who are now 12 points clear at the top, travel to second from bottom Staines today.
