Daza Usher’s fight against Mitch Buckland in Cardiff on Saturday, May 17, has been confirmed and will be part of a live Sky Sports bumper show
The professional boxer from Bicester is looking forward to the fight and will be keen to get back in the ring after seeing his last two bouts fall through.
The weigh-in will be held the day before the show, with the contest made at light-welterweight.
Usher said ahead of the fight: “Buckland is a very tough opponent. He is currently undefeated as a professional and has won both British Masters and Celtic titles, as well as having a very successful amateur career that included a junior Olympic bronze medal.”
The fight card for the show is almost complete and features some of the best talent in the country. The card is being topped by the return of former world champion, Nathan Cleverley, while the event also features Gary Buckland against former world title challenger Gavin Rees.
Usher, who currently holds a career record of six wins and one defeat, added: “I’ve made a few adjustments to my training in the lead up to this fight as my opponent is a southpaw (left-handed) but I always seem to do well against left handed fighters so I will be confident when coming up against Buckland.
“I have done the bulk of my training at Bicester Boxing Club but I’ve also travelled to different gyms across the country to find suitable sparring partners. I have the perfect job as a boxing coach and personal trainer to stay fit and sharp all year round so when big opportunities like this one come up I can be confident in my physical conditioning.
“A show like this is something I’ve worked towards for many years and could be a great opportunity to put me in line for more big contests in the future. I ‘m looking to win my first title as a professional by the end of this year and boxing on shows like this will give me excellent experience of performing on the big stage.”
