Bicester Athletic Club celebrated one of their most successful winters in recent times with a presentation evening held at Bicester Rugby Club last Friday.
Opened by club chairman Steve Flynn, the evening focused on the four Bicester teams who won awards in the Oxfordshire Sportshall League. The U13 boys reigned supreme as they finished more than 100 points clear of their nearest rivals, while the girls were just four points clear going into the final event before clinching the title.
The U11 boys finished the season unbeaten and broke two league records to win the overall title, with the girls also taking victory.
The U15 boys finished second and the girls third.
In the cross country section, U13 girl Sophie Wheeler won the Best Girl Performer award after becoming Bicester’s first winner of an Oxon Mail League Cross Country title for many years. She was also an integral part of the team that took the silver medal in the Oxon County Championships and her performance at Harwell bagged her an individual bronze.
Tom Gould won the boy’s award after he finished fourth in the Oxon Mail League.
Young Georgina Usher enjoyed a superb season as she remained unbeaten in the U9 category to pick up the Best Performance for an U11, while Most Improved Athlete was won by Jennie Procter.
The final awards went to Owen and Amelia Cox who were awarded the boy and girl club members of the year award.
