Buckingham Athletic visit Kentish Town this Saturday looking for a pick-me-up after a lacklustre 4-1 defeat at home to Kings Langley in the South Midlands Division One last Saturday.
Athletic struggled against a side who were always a threat when moving forward.
Gary Connelly netted for the visitors in each half, Liam James grabbed the second and Nathan Pooley sealed victory in the last minute.
Athletic were hit by the loss of skipper Dave O’Dell to injury early on and never really got into the game, lacking width and finding Langley strong on the counterattack.
They went 1-0 down after 19 minutes, an unmarked Connelly nodding in a corner ball delivered from the right.
Patrick Hooper almost levelled it for the hosts on 25 minutes with a fine shot from 20 yards which keeper Ross Hampton just managed to fingertip for a corner.
On 37 minutes Liam James added a second from a free kick, his toepoke hitting the woodwork and rolling in.
Athletic then enjoyed a brief spell of dominance and four minutes from half time Nathan Skelton pulled a goal back, his low well driven shot striking a post and finding the net.
But Athletic’s fortunes didn’t improve after the break and Langley bossed the game except for a five-minute flurry of chances for the home side at the end.
Connelly grabbed a second in the 57th minute for 3-1 and despite Athletic throwing on substitutes, they could have gone further behind as Langley went close on a number of occasions, Warnecki busy in the Athletic goal.
Pooley made it 4-1 30 seconds from time with a left footed volley into the far corner.Buckingham Athletic: Warnecki, Hodges, D.Howkins, Staly, O’Dell, Chart, Hammond, Hooper, Bone, Skelton, Brooks. Subs used: Nightingale, Bennett, Latham.
