Gary Pearson, at the wheel of his BRM Type 25 pictured above, chases the Scarab of Julian Bronson during the early laps of The Richmond Trophy race at Goodwood last weekend. The duo thrilled the thousands of spectators present at the annual historic racing showcase with a superb battle in the race featuring Grand Prix cars of the 1950-60s.

Pearson gained the upper hand midway through the 25-minute race when Bronson clashed with the Aston Martin DBR4 of Wolfgang Friedrichs. Pearson took the lead, and although Bronson rejoined the race, he was unable to catch the BRM with Pearson racing away to claim his twelfth Goodwood Revival career victory. Tony Wood finished second in his TecMec-Maserati with Roger Wills third in a Lotus 166. Afterwards

Pearson said: “It was a great race with Julian until he had his incident. Once in the lead I made sure I stayed ahead and didn’t push the car too hard. It is always a nice feeling to win here at Goodwood.”
