Alexander Sims recorded two fine podium finishes in rounds of the FIA F3 European Championship at the Nurburgring in Germany last weekend. Driving a ThreeBond by T-Sport Dallara-Nissan, the former winner of the BRDC McLaren Autosport Young Driver of the Year award scored second and third place finishes from the opening FIA F3 races of the weekend.
A non finish in his third outing was a disappointment for the driver and his Brackley-based team, but Sims again showed his talent in the races at the venue of the German Grand Prix. His T-Sport team-mate, Australian Spike Goddard, scored a best finish of 21st in the first two races. He also failed to finish the third race following a first lap incident. Italian Raffaele Marciello won all three races for the Prema Powerteam – stretching his advantage at the head of the championship with the next rounds scheduled to take place at Zandvoort in Holland next weekend.
