FOOTBALL: There was no festive joy for Buckingham Town as they went down 3-1 to second in the table Bugbrooke St Michaels in the UCL Division One on Boxing Day.

It was the Robins’ first defeat at the Winslow Centre.

With two games coming over the next three days, firstly at home tomorrow, Saturday, against Wootton Blue Cross and then on Monday at top six side Olney Town, the Robins will need to bounce back.

Against Bugbrooke, Kit Bamber’s side fell behind to a Nick Worley goal after 18 minutes and the half finished with the visitors 1-0 up.

Ashley Bradshaw fired home a second for Bugbrooke shortly after the break to pile on the misery for Buckingham.

The Robins however rallied and new signing Rob Bannister pulled one back for them in the 64th minute, his third in two games, to give Town hope.

But Bugbrooke sealed the win seven minutes from time with a Lance Allen strike to leave Town disappointed after a good recent run.
