Nico Rosberg is looking forward to the European leg of the FIA F1 World Championship season starting in Barcelona at the Circuit de Catalunya next weekend, write Colin and James Beckett.
The German has shown good pace during early rounds of the 2013 season, and qualified on pole for the latest round of the series in Bahrain two weeks ago.
Rosberg is now in his fourth season with the Brackley-based Mercedes team, he said: “With Lewis we have a very strong bond and are very determined to bring success to Mercedes and the F1 team.
“Lewis and I have shown during the first four races that we are capable of challenging the top teams in qualifying, but our race pace is not as good as it could be.
“This is something we need to work on and now the championship has returned to Europe it will be easier for the team to complete updates for the car.”
The world championship title might be out of reach for the team this year, but Rosberg believes they are capable of scoring race victories throughout the year.
He added: “We are looking at wins. Yes, of course, the championship is our aim but we want to score wins this year and then as the new car arrives for 2014 that is when we will focus on winning the championship.”
