ATHLETICS: Bicester Athletic Club’s Sportshall teams had an excellent match in the fourth and penultimate match of the Oxfordshire Sportshall League season at Wallingford School.
The U11 girls bounced back from fifth place in the previous match to take second. Molly Acton, Kerry Hickman, Eleanor Downer and Emma Gyde finished an excellent second in the obstacle relay.
Siobhan Siggers, Erin Higginbottom, Orlaith Lyford and Ffion Phillips ran fine one-lap races to take third place. Siggers and Phillips threw the soft javelin for third. The girls finished off with an excellent second in the 4 x 1 lap relays.
Fergus Jones, Jake Cherry, Billy England, and Tom Beckett got the U11 boys match under way with a fine second in the obstacle relay. Beckett, Fergus Jones, Matthew Bosher, and Lewys Jones raced to a win in the one-lap races. Bosher and Michalis Michaelides jumped to first place in the standing long jump. Cherry and Lewys Jones threw the soft javelin to take first place. With Owen Acton the team finished third in the 4 x 1 lap relays and were overall winners of the match.
The U13 girls were in scintillating form. Kathryn Langley, Jess Cherry, with Corin and Megan Scott broke the league record in their victory in the obstacle relay. Lito Michaelidou and Lauren Page took first place in the two laps race. Michaelidou and Langley ran stunning four laps races to take first place. Cherry and Corin Scott won the shot putt competition. The girls rounded off their match with another fine win in the 4 x 2 laps relay. The girls finished in first place overall.
Max England, Jonty Renk, with Connor and Zak Wilce gained a fine second place in the obstacle relay. Daniel Heijink, and Rhys Warriner stormed to a win in the two lap races. Heijink and Adam Wood jumped to first place in the standing long jump. Twins Zak and Connor Wilce ran an excellent eight lap paarlauf relay to take second spot. The boys finished winners of their match.
The U15 team finished their match in fifth place overall.
