YOUTH RUGBY: Buckingham U14’s beat Slough away in the Plate quarter-final 25-17.

In the opening period Buckingham dominated play and soon went ahead when good play led to Josh Graham going over for an early try.

The visitors soon went 10-0 up when the Buckingham forwards drove the Slough pack back from the scrum and no 8 Max Steel went over. Josh Graham made it 15-0 after a powerful run through the Slough defence. Buckingham then went to sleep and conceded a converted try on the stroke of half time to lead 15-7 at the break.

Slough dominated the early stages of the second session with Buckingham unable to get out of the 22.

Pressure led to a penalty against the Buckingham scrum and Slough scored a disputed second try with the Buckingham defence claiming it was held up over the line. Slough were dominating now and went into the lead with a third try to lead 17-15 with six minutes to play.

Buckingham then regained the momentum and drove down into the Slough 22. From the scrum Buckingham won the ball which was swept quickly across the park for Josh Graham to score his third try. Then Max Steel drove over to complete the scoring for a Buckingham victory.
