Jonathan Stevens from Brackley has made a strong start to the new hovercraft season by finishing second in the British Hovercraft Junior Championship held at Magnoll Farm.
Competing in his new hovercraft, Jonathan, 13, started the first of five action-packed races from last on the grid but some fine racing saw him gradually move up the field to fourth, where he remained until the end.
He finished second in the next race having begun from fourth before he stormedto a comfortable victory in the third race.
That was then followed by two second place finishes in the final two races for overall second.
His 11-year-old sister, Katherine Stevens, meanwhile, raced in Jonathan’s 2012 hovercraft for the first time and she had a memorable weekend, eventually finishing seventh.
Both Jonathan and Katherine are now looking forward to the next race, which is held at Hackett’s Lake, Nottingham, on May 25 to 27.
