Stoke Bruerne suffered a heavy defeat to their nearest rivals on Saturday to remain bottom of Northamptonshire Cricket League Division Four.
After winning the toss and putting Raunds to bat, Stoke made an excellent start with Paul Brown removing Beeney for a duck, but Adam Lack and James York added 69 before Ashley Morris had York caught behind by Alex Holmes.
Lack and Ben Simpson then put on a partnership of 54, but the introduction of left-arm spinner Dave Weston proved its worth. Bowling in tandem with off-spinner Luke Adams, the two began to exert some control on a pitch offering both bounce and turn with Weston causing all sorts of problems as he finished with superb figures of 6-55 from 13 overs.
Despite that, Raunds still made a challenging 229-9 from 50 overs.
Stoke struggled in reply as Raunds ripped through the batting line-up with only Adams and Brian Malin making double figures in Stoke’s 67 all out in 22.2 overs. Earl finished with 3-13 and Perry 3-28.
