Swan Show fly high to grab six-a-side league honours

FOOTBALL: The final matches of the Buckingham Autumn/Winter Buckingham 6-a-side League last Monday saw Swan Show beat Dilligaf United 6-1 to be confirmed league champions.

Fnishing in runners-up spot, AFC Brackley beat Lloyd Allstars 3-1.

After another shaky start which saw them 2-0 down within ten minutes, Nags Head came back strongly in the second half of their game to overcome New Beercelona 5-2.

Hardly Athletic obtained their expected win over FC Copenbadly with a hard fought 2-0 victory.

Crown & Glory were under pressure from the start against quality outfit Ken Bater’s Allstars whose mercurial Joe Townsend threatened to run riot but with ‘the Cat’ pulling off a half dozen super saves, C & G weathered the storm well and instead of the seemingly inevitable second half collapse went on to win 2-0, although had their striker up front converted a couple of the half dozen gilt-edged chances available, a much more emphatic score line could have been achieved.

The new Spring League starts next Monday, February 6. There are places for a further two teams if urgent contact is made with the league organiser Ray Peverall on 01908 562131.

On Monday, Ken Baters Allstars play Lloyd Allstars at 7pm, while Greysham Flyers are in action against Crown & Glory at 7.30pm.Barbarians meet Diligaf United at 8pm. Nags Head play the Swan Show at 8.30 and AFC Brackley take on Hardly Athletic at 9pm.
