Ton up Wallace on fire for Gibbon

THE new season of the Buckingham midweek league started with a unbeaten 101 by A Wallace as Marsh Gibbon beat Gawcott by 45 runs.

Marsh posted 165-3 with N. Kiam making 47. In reply M. Thatcher was unbeaten on 77 in Gawcott’s total of 120-4.

Last years champions Westbury lost by 25 runs at Brackley, where K. Cartwright hit 41 and S. King 40 in Brackley’s total of 129-7; A.MaClaren took 3-14.

Westbury then finished on 104-9, 32 from T. Boardman and 35 from E. Shears not enough to see them home as M.Lowe took 4-19.

Syresham restricted Fringford to 122-7. The main scorers were T. Jones 35no and S. Foot 35, but D. Archer, with 4-32, kept the score down.

N. Parry (44) and D.Coney (32) were both unbeaten to guide Syresham home by six wickets.

Preston Bissett had a narrow 16 run win over Maids Moreton. J. Cater hit 67 and R.Watson an unbeaten 41 as Preston scored 150-3. In reply Moreton finished on 134-4, with G. Frazier hitting 74.

Thornborough beat Great Horwood by 17 runs. J.Ell (32) and L. Tomlinson (31) were Thornborough’s top scorers in their total of 97-6. S. Ridgway took 3-14.

Some miserly bowling then restricted Horwood to 80-6 with Ell completing a fine match with 3-10.
