JUNIOR RUGBY: Towcestrians U7’s (pictured left) took two teams to the Coalville tournament last weekend and both made it through to the final to the delight of players and parents.
The Knghts and Warriors met up after coming through some tough qualifying matches. Warriors beat Melbourne A 7-1, drew with their B team 4-4 and then saw off the Knights in a derby game 3-2 and accounted for Ashby also 3-2.
The Knights beat Ashby 8-1 and then to reach the final saw off Melbourne B 6-3 and Melbourne A 7-1.
In the final The Knights started the brighter of the teams, getting two early tries from Matthew Williamson and William Campion.
Warriors then pulled one back with a great run from Charlie Cousins.
Then with some amazing support play from Ben in the Warriors team, he sneaked through to bring it to 2-2. Tom Holton then added another try for the Knights and with the game nearing the end, Warriors went all out, putting Oscar Wilde through to bring the score to 3-3 at the final whistle.
Other players who made superb contributions were Marcus Blackwell, Ben Groom, Thomas Pittom, Moreton Lund, Jack Brennan and Joe Brown.
