Wheeler is tops for Bicester in cross-country

RUNNING: There was a strong turnout from Bicester Athletics Club for the third round of the Oxon Mail Cross Country League last Sunday at Horspath, which was combined with the Oxon Cross Country Championships.

Top performance of the day from a Bicester runner was by Sophie Wheeler in her first season of cross-country for the club, finishing an excellent fourth in the U11 girl’s race.

Along with Ben Jerham in the U13 boy’s event, she is one of two Bicester competitors occupying top five individual places in the overall standings after three events.

Other Bicester AC places were as follows:

U11 Boys:Fergus Jones,10th,7 mins 32secs; James Giddins, 26th, 8 mins 16 secs;

William Sims, 29th, 8 mins 20 secs; William Tyrell,30th, 8 mins 23 secs;Tom Couzens, 31st, 8 mins 31 sec; Owen Acton, 35th, 9 mins 18 secs.

U11 Girls:Amy Gould, 28th, 8 mins 55 secs; Molly Acton, 30th, 9 mins 5 secs;

Kerry Hickman, 37th, 9 mins 32 secs; Maisie Sylveste, 44th, 10 mins 02 secs;

Molly Bird, 45th, 10mins 04 secs; Daisy Newton, 48th, 10 mins 36 secs;Emily Wright, 53rd, 12 mins 18 secs.

U13 Boys:Tom Gould, 19th, 15 mins 08secs.

U15/17 Boys: James Minter, 35th, 23 mins 06 secs.
