Winslow entertained Gosford last Saturday and ran out comfortable winners.
The home team were struggling for a side at 5pm on the Friday before but in the end they managed to turn out 15 players.
From the off Winslow dominated the game. Their backs ran at the Gosford line early on and tore them to shreds, while Winslow’s forwards pushed the Gosford backs all over the park.
With a couple of players playing in different positions the team had no idea what the result would be, but mana-of-the-match Stuart Amos playing as prop, flanker Marc Betts and inside centre Euan Irwin stepped up and embarrassed their opposite numbers.
The first try came from Martin Perrett running in under the posts which Greg Laird converted. The second was from strong backs’ play. With quick hands, Euan Irwin broke the Gosford line to score again, Laird converting.
The third try saw Laird picking up the ball from the back of the ruck and having the strength to hold off his marker, touched down on the line, Laird converting his own try as the half ended.
The second period was much the same as the previous session with Gosford only visiting Winslow’s twenty-two once. Laird scored a penalty midway through the second half and then number 8 Paul Green bundled his way over the try line to finish off the match, Laird missing the conversion. The win cemented Winslow’s fourth place in the table, only three points behind the third-placed team.
