FOOTBALL: Brackley Town go into this weekend’s game at Windsor & Eton in upbeat mood after an emphatic 4-1 home victory over Cirencester last Saturday at St James Park.
Tom Winters grabbed a hat-trick and Francis Green netted the other goal as Saints made it two wins out of two over the Gloucestershire visitors in the Zamaretto Premier Division clash.
Cirencester briefly rallied with a second half Tom Etheridge strike, but were always second best to a dominant Brackley.
The visitors also found themselves down to 10 men later in the second half when keeper Matt Bulman’s challenge on Elliott Sandy saw him sent off.
It was Saints’ second league victory in a row after a run of defeats saw them slip down the table.
Winters scored after six minutes on Saturday with an angled shot from a cross by Story and Green added a second just before half time. Winters hit his second just after the break, Etheridge then scored and after a period of hesitancy, Brackley sealed victory through a spot kick by Winters following keeper Bulman’s red card for tripping Elliott Sandy in the box.
