AN estimated 2,000 people turned out for the Rotary Club of Towcester's annual May Day Fayre on Bank Holiday Monday.

Around 70 stalls offering games and prizes were staffed by local traders, clubs and organisations, as well as national charities such as the RNLI and the PSP Association.

Children enjoyed a balloon race, face painting, rides and a bouncy castle, while more than 1,200 yellow plastic ducks took part in the ever-popular duck race along Silverstone Brook.

The Delapre Majorettes, husky dogs and Northants Fire and Rescue Service entertained the crowd in the arena.

Rotarian Frank Kelly, chairman of the organising committee, said: "We were pleased to see so many people despite the cool weather."

He confirmed that all profits from the event will go to charity.
